Feeling So Empty
I recall coming to Perth from Jakarta when I was 18 to pursue my University degree. Coming from a broken family, I felt “free” to be finally living in Perth, detached from my parent’s frequent fights and problems. I would try to find satisfaction and escape constantly by living a lifestyle of partying and clubbing. I would also jump from one dating relationship to another. However, this lifestyle was draining me out. After all these supposedly “fun” activities, I still felt so empty.

My Heart Healed
Eventually a friend introduced me to Aflame Community Church, where I experienced His presence and love to be so real. JESUS touched me, changed me, set me free, strengthened me, and I made the decision to give my life to JESUS.
I began praying for GOD to restore my broken family and He answered. I encouraged my Mum to come to Church and there she was touched by GOD’s presence and made the decision to also accept JESUS into her life. JESUS worked wonderfully to transform her and as a result, her relationship with my Dad was restored.
My Mum’s Sickness
My moments of rejoicing were suddenly short-lived as about 6 months later I received the bitter news of my Mum’s ovarian cancer. Being an only child, I had to take care of my Mum by myself in Singapore while my Dad worked to make sure all financial needs were covered. The hardest part was to witness the pain of seeing my Mum constantly suffering.
I remember praying and crying out with intense pain in my heart for JESUS to help me. He was always there to listen to me and give me the strength I needed. I received comfort though GOD’s Words in the Bible and even through dreams and visions. Although my Mum peacefully went to be with JESUS in July 2009, I am assured my Mom is in the best place she could ever be: to be with JESUS. Where there is no more pain, no more tears, just eternal joy!
My Encouragement to You
My journey has led me into a stronger and overcoming faith in JESUS. As I look back at my experiences, GOD was there for me in every step of the way. Help also came from the Aflame Church family, especially our Pastors and Leaders who supported me through continuous prayer, encouragement and counsel.
As you read my story, you may be going through storms in life that overwhelms you and feel beyond your control. I want to encourage you that you are not alone. GOD cares for you and He is inviting you to share your heavy loads of life with Him. He says in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your GOD. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
